Our markets: who we serve

We provide insurance for:

  • Large employer groups with 5,000 or more employees.
  • Mandatory or high participation executive/partnership plans with 50 or more participants. High face amounts and discretionary income are keys to success in this market.

Payroll deduction vs. worksite marketing
The large employer market can be considered a payroll-deduction market. If employees choose to purchase coverage, premiums can be collected through payroll deduction. The worksite market also uses payroll deduction but generally focuses on employers with 250 or fewer employees to insure. Minnesota Life's Group business unit is not active in this market and does not plan to enter it in the near future.

Associations and their members
We target national associations with 10,000 or more members. We offer both group and individual term life products that are marketed directly to members. From marketing to claims service, we provide complete support for member benefit programs. For an association presentation or proposal, e-mail our Washington, D.C. sales office or call 301-585-3048.

Public employers
We are uniquely experienced in serving the public sector, providing insurance coverage and plan services for over 1,600 public employers including the states of Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin. These employers choose Minnesota Life as their group life insurance provider because we understand this market and have the technology expertise to streamline administration while providing consistent levels of high-quality service.
