Fast and easy! Administrators can now file claims online St. Paul, MN, March 30, 2004 — Minnesota Life Group Insurance introduces e-Claims, new technology that makes it easier and faster for clients to provide notice of group life insurance claims. Administrators can now submit claims via customized web sites on the internet, increasing speed and accuracy, saving time and money, and simplifying the claim notification process. Currently, HR administrators at client companies complete paper claim forms and mail or fax them to Minnesota Life. With e-Claims, initial notice can be given online at a web site customized to the company's plan, streamlining the claim notification process for clients. Supporting documents required in the claims process, such as a certified copy of the death certificate or a signed beneficiary statement, can be faxed by the client or obtained by Minnesota Life. Gregg Hammerly, director, Minnesota Life Group Claims, says web-based claim notification also helps employers. "Clients often find they spend much of their day on computers serving employees," says Hammerly. "E-Claims helps with the work flow by using internet technology that is already their primary tool for managing employee benefits." Minnesota Life developed the e-Claims technology entirely with in-house resources and recently completed a successful pilot of the program. E-Claims will be available to new and existing clients throughout 2004. Minnesota Life is the nation's eighth largest group life insurer, with more than $300 billion in group life insurance in force and paying nearly $300 million in group life and accelerated benefits claims annually. Minnesota Life has provided customized group life insurance programs to government, business, and associations for more than 80 years. It is highly rated by the major independent rating agencies that analyze the financial soundness and claims-paying ability of insurance companies.
