Minnesota Life adds Illinois to its list of state group life insurance clients Company opening local office to serve 175,000-person system St. Paul, Minn., (March) 2001 Minnesota Life Insurance Company's Group Insurance unit has added the State of Illinois to its growing list of state government clients. The company, whose ranking among group life insurance providers has climbed from fourteenth to eighth in five years, demonstrated its commitment to high-quality service by offering to open a local service office in Springfield to manage the program. "Illinois stressed claims service in its request for proposal," said Amy Hennessey, account executive, Minnesota Life Insurance Company. "Our offer to set up an office for the sole purpose of serving the account helped to distinguish our proposal." The State of Illinois plan, which goes into effect July 1, automatically provides term life insurance coverage to all plan participants and allows participants to purchase optional insurance for themselves, their spouse and dependents. Minnesota Life opened its local service office in Springfield May 1, the first day of the Statẹs annual benefit choice period. Founded in 1880, Minnesota Life Insurance Company provides financial security for individuals and businesses in the form of insurance, pensions and investments. It is one of a few insurance groups in the United States carrying "very high" ratings including A++ from A.M. Best, AA+ from Standard & Poor's, Aa2 from Moody's Investors Service and AA+ from Fitch. Minnesota Life serves over six million people with more than $240 billion of life insurance in force and $20 billion in assets under management. Its combined work force of 4,400 people is located at its St. Paul headquarters and agencies and offices across the country. Contact: |
