Securian launches NY drive for Fortune 1000 group life business
St. Paul, MN, March 27, 2006 — Large employers in New York, and the intermediaries who serve them, have a strong new option to consider among employee benefits providers. Securian Life Insurance Company, an affiliate of Minnesota Mutual Companies, Inc., has opened an office in Manhattan.
"Our target market is Fortune 1000 employers, and we felt it was important to establish a New York presence to better serve that market," said Bill Markwardt, vice president, Group Sales. The Fortune 1000 strategy has fueled Securian's growth in the group market; the company rose from sixteenth largest in 1997 to sixth largest in 2004.
The office will be headed by Connie Cottrill, CLU, group sales manager, Eastern Region. Cottrill has 19 years of experience marketing and selling group life insurance and has consistently earned the company's top sales honors. In 2005, she was recognized for garnering the group insurer's largest sale of the year.
"One of our strengths is user-friendly technology that makes it easy for employees to manage their group life benefits and employers to administer them," said Cottrill. "Our blend of high-tech ingenuity with high-touch customer service earns high marks from our clients," noting that 100 percent of the respondents in a recent customer survey were satisfied with the group insurer’s service; 98 percent said they would recommend the company to other large employers.
