Securian's Minnesota Life Group Insurance hosts free web presentation on marketing benefits to employees

St. Paul, MN, July 2, 2007 – Human resources professionals are invited to a free online presentation about the impact of customizing employee benefits communications.

Michael Russell, National Sales Director, SmartMoney Custom Solutions, will share results and insights of a national study by the Roper Organization that shows how audience segmentation, targeted messaging and personalization can be effective in prompting action among benefits participants. The web cast will be held Wednesday, July 18 at 10:00 – 11:00 AM PDT, 11:00 – Noon MDT, Noon – 1:00 PM CDT, and 1:00 – 2:00 PM EDT.

"Today's consumers receive an overwhelming number of solicitations; most are ignored, few are understood," said Paula Bilitz, Minnesota Life Group Insurance Marketing Director and moderator of the July 18 web cast. "To cut through the clutter, employers and their intermediaries can harness some of the same tools used by savvy marketers. But these techniques must be used appropriately to be effective in prompting action among benefits participants."

Russell's presentation will explain that consumers react more favorably when receiving personalized communications – up to a point. The Roper study also reveals the need to maintain balance between tailoring communication to elicit response and avoiding a perception of intrusion. Bilitz applies the study's results in the context of group life insurance enrollment communication. Additionally, web cast attendees will learn how to:

  • Use employee data to improve the benefits experience.
  • Maximize client profitability through better segmentation and targeted offerings.
  • Apply predictive analytics to optimize benefits communication effectiveness.
  • Help employers increase return on their benefits expenditure through higher levels of employee participation.

To register for the event, visit online and follow the prompts.
